If the average person loses 100 strands of hair a day why aren't we all bald?

Lately I've been noticing that I have to clean out my comb every few days to keep it from being overly full of hair. I also have to clean out my shower drain after about a month's worth of showers. I read that the average person loses about 100 strands a day. First, how is that possible without becoming bald after a certain amount of time? And secondly, I have really long hair. If I did lose 100 strands a day, wouldn't it be reasonable to think that no one could keep long hair because it would all eventually fall out and all that would be left is what was growing back in it's place?

well we have millions and millions of hair on our head and we do lose around 100 pieces of hair a day. we lose most of them by just regularly brushing our hair. we lose that much hair and then some just fall out. keep in note that they fall out in different places so other hair goes on top of them and it looks like u didn't even lose any hair.but hair grown really fast it's supposed to grown at least 3 inches a month. that's why we girls have to get it trimmed. if u din't trim it u can have a chance of hair not growing fast and getting split ends.. i hope i helped.

well its not exactly 100 strands, but if it was, our hair grows back so ...idk

Because for every 100 hairs you lose, you also are growing back new hairs, so you don't go bald unless you are predisposed to either male or female pattern baldness.

You have to clean out the drain after a MONTH'S worth of showers? Man, I clean mine out almost every day. 100 strands of hair really isn't much in the grand scheme of things. Plus, they grow back. (Unless you're actually balding.)

There's way too much hair on a human head for one to go bald, even with 100 lost hairs a day. Keep in mind, that's only on average. Some lose less than that a day. It's usually just dead hair falling out so that healthy hair can grow back in. Hair can grow surprisingly fast.

hair grows back

Yeah, that would be a reasonable assumption if you didn't (and you didn't) include that most of those that fall out get replaced by new ones.

If you loose a hair a new one grows in it's place. so there's long hair that falls out and short hair grows in it's place but it all doesn't happen at once so the short hair gets longer befor anyone realizes that it's short. People have like a lot more than 100 hairs on their head. probably more like....idk a million? If you had a million CD's would you notice if you lost a hundred of them?

I think that is close to 100, depending on how much you brush your hair and style it. You also have baby hair, that isn't seen but is growing.

well, even though you lose hair everyday, it is constantly being replaced. not to mention that (natural) Blondes have roughly 146000 strands, (natural) Black-haired people have 110000 strands, and (natural) Brunettes have 100000 strands.

you have hundreds of thousands of hairs on your head so to compair that to one hundred really isn't a lot. your hair goes through three stages, growth, rest, and well falling out. hair is really like your skin in the fact that it reproduces itself. i know you have no need to worry about going bald. best of luck

Because the hair grows in faster than it falls out.

WELL U LOSE UR HAIR DAILY AND IT'S REPLACED AS IT FALLS OUT, AND U LOSE THE HAIR STRAND NOT UR HAIR FOLLICLE (ROOT WHERE UR HAIR IS FORMED AND GROWS OUT OF) UR HAIR GROWS ABOUT 1/2 PER MONTH AND IT'S NORMAL PROCEDURE IS TO FALL OR SHED LITTLE BY LITTLE.

yeah, 100 hairs seems like a lot, until you figure that the head has something like 100,000-150,000, or even 200,000. and at the rate you regrow new, healthy hair, its not a problem.

just like skin. you lose something like 90 pounds of skin in a lifetime

If the average person loses 100 strands of hair a day why aren't we all bald?

it depends on the type, style, and body your hair is

If the average person loses 100 strands of hair a day why aren't we all bald?

because if you have healthy hair you might only lose like 20 strands a day...when my hair is very healthy i have only lost like five to 10 strands...if someone is losing a 100 strands a day then something is wrong...their hair is damaged or they lack vitamins such as bi vitamins....people may think they are losing 100..but one day actually count them and you will see you don't lose that much

If the average person loses 100 strands of hair a day why aren't we all bald?

well, lets say hypothetically that you have one million strands of hair on your head. if you lose 100 a day without growing any new hair, that is one thousand days or just shy of three years before you go bald.

most hair will grow at a rate of about one inch every 1-2 months. so if you lose 3,000 strands of hair in one month, but all the rest of your hair gains one inch, you can see how and why we all need haircuts not hats.
