Sleeping a lot can be ok this time of year as well as losing the thick fur for summertime.

Cats can sleep like 18 hrs a day and if you get a comb/brush for the cat there wont be so much loose hair swallowed and there will be less hair on the sleeping place/furniture.

If the cats get bold patches so you can see the skin, there is something wrong.

Im not sure about the spots.

It might be from ticks/fleas/mange so if your cat can get outside you should check for these (or let the vet do that)

It might (esp. under the chin) also just be dried blood from the cat scratching itself to get rid of loose fur.

Hey, i want to be a vet, so iono if this is right... but for the loss of hair... i would suspect mange, but the other stuff iono so like i would just go get a check up at the vet, but it could just be old age too... or cancer for the black spots so i would check with a vet.

I almost sounds like your cat has mange. Mange is caused by tiny mites that eat your cats skin and lay eggs all over. It makes the hair fall out and usually the cat will scratch a lot because they itch. The vet sells a flea treatment called revolution that can kill the mites. If I were you, I would contact a vet and explain the situation to them and see if this is what they think.

Thats normal as long as their are not bald areas exept the places on the face and you know but it is fine my cat did that and it was the shedding time of year, it just needs a bath and grooming and wipe it with a wet napkin. The other stuff is weird so that needs a vet to look at it
