The reason i ask about the age is because A Shih Tzu will blows its puppy undercoat at sometime between eight months and one year of age. If she had puppies at this age and the same time as she is blowing her puppy undercoat that is why you see her hair fallen out in hand fulls. If that isn't the case . The with the c-section and puppies that will take a lot out of her. Her coat will be very thin. That will pass after the puppies stop demanding all her time. Just brush her very gently not to long that you are keeping her away from her puppies, not so hard cause her skin will be a little touche.

I had a similar problem and had some blood work done- I had thyroid issues (under active) and after I started taking thyroid meds my hair stopped falling out in clumps. Took a while for my hair to regain the thickness it had, but it helped.

I am too a cancer survivor, congratulations to you in your ability and fortitude to overcome such a horrendous experience. I also lost all my hair, brows, body and facial hair and it took probably more than three years to be able to feel real strong again. there were so many issues to deal with emotionally and physically afterward that having a short and weak hair became a minor really minor issue for me!.

I recommend you eat highly nutritious meals and try to regain your emotional balance, the rest (such as hair, nails, acceptable appearance) will come back after you have reached harmony within yourself and acceptance in total health again.

Congratulations and be real happy. You won the battle. Forget the minor issues, remember you probably bought a nice wig......so go ahead keep using it!! or buy another one while you hair becomes nice again......
