Is there a tried and true method for thickening hair, beyond those so-called "illustrious"

I just want a thicker head of hair. I'm not LOSING any, it just isn't thick to begin with. Any pointers?

Is there a tried and true method for thickening hair, beyond those so-called "illustrious" shampoos?

sorry, but thickness of hair is generally a matter of genetics. either you have it or you don楹搕. there are lots of things you can put in your hair to make it appear thicker (usually have the word "volumizing" on them) but nothing is really going to make your hair thicker.

Loss of hair?

Since once month i lose a lot of hair and they became "electrically". I have very long straight hair and wear them as ponytail. I use stinging nettle shampoo once the week.

Any advice how to stop that hair loss?

Thanks for all answers and help.

Loss of hair?

you need to stop straightening or blow drying or curling them if you do that. this is a major cause in hair loss. Also, if you got a perm, your hair is flowing with chemicals and that could cause hair to fall out. If it isnt any reason related to electricity or perms or anything then it is probably genetic. I know this sounds pretty nasty but natural coconut oil for hair-you can find it in any store just ask for hair oil- it makes your hair strong and lessens hair loss.

Loss of hair?

heat styling or chemically styling if u do that stuff stop and there is a special shampoo

Hair falling out at young age?

Take more vitamins, and drink a lot more water. It could just be because your hormones are changing. But I would see a doctor.

Hair falling out at young age?

See your pediatrician. There could be a hundred reasons for it. So start with the expert.

Hair falling out at young age?

you might feel like you're losing a lot of hair, but you're probably not. when i take a shower i have a ton of hair coming out, but that's not because i'm lacking any vitamin. hair falls out a lot, especially if its damamged. don't worry about it.

Hair falling out at young age?

Try massaging your scalp every day for five minutes. You must eat lots of fruits and veggies - esp. dark fruits and veggies. Berries are great for skin and nails. Try taking a daily multivitamin and drink lots of water and milk.

Remember, this could be your genes -- does your mother or sister have a problem with this? -- but try to prevent it by eating healthy foods and exercising regularly. It worked for me!

Remember, hair falls out every two years, so for the next few weeks, you may simply be going through a replacement period.

My hair is really fine, how can I make it thicker?

When I had virgin hair, I had so much hair that it would take me for ever to brush out. After dying my hair so many times (3x every year for 7 years), I have lost so much hair!

I stopped dying it now for about 6 months and I cut it short to give it the appearance of fuller hair but it is still really fine/thin.

What can I do to make it thicker again like I used to have it with out using the Rogaine! I don't want to depend on chemicals!

Please help!

My hair is really fine, how can I make it thicker?

Ensure that you eat nutritious food, with plenty of leafy vegetables. Have a soya milk drink and multivitamin tablets if you do not have time to have a healthy breakfast.Apply the white of a raw egg on the hair for 30 minutes, and then wash it off with a shampoo. A mixture of lemon juice and egg white and oil massage could also be used to strengthen the roots of hair. More remedies at http://hairthinning.org/ will prevent further problems.

My hair is really fine, how can I make it thicker?

Prell concentrate shampoo.

My hair is really fine, how can I make it thicker?

try getting a kids perm...that may help

My hair is really fine, how can I make it thicker?

use a new shampo that you havnt used before or go to youre docter and see if they can get a new shampo that will help

My hair is really fine, how can I make it thicker?

First you can start with using a voluming shampoo. Maybe try using some mouse as well when your hair is wet might give it some thickness. Good luck hope it works,

My hair is really fine, how can I make it thicker?

First off, its a good thing to get away from all those products. Let your hair be beautiful naturally! To get you hair to become thicker, get it trimmed every few months. (like 2 or 3) Don't get layers, that just makes your hair thinner! Try to keep it all the same lenght.

My hair is really fine, how can I make it thicker?

go onto http://www.sunsilk.com

your sunsilk is the blue one. It help increse volume in your hair.

mine is the apricot anti-itch one.

go onto fun and games and take the sunsilk quiz to find out! (even though i know yours is the dark blue)

My hair is really fine, how can I make it thicker?

I've always had fine hair, I use salon shampoos %26amp; conditioners that are made to make my hair look thicker. I have also tried Rogaine and see a little bit of new growth from that. Without using chemicals using the shampoo and conditioner to make hair look thicker will give you the appearance of thicker hair. Curls also help, I keep mine cut short %26amp; permed. If you don't want to use the chemicals of a perm either, try using a curling iron. I've also used vitamins that are made expressly for hair growth. I found them at Walgreens. They seemed to improve the health of my hair somewhat.

My hair is really fine, how can I make it thicker?

Have some oil massage, (eg. coconut oil is good). Keep it for minimum 30 minutes. Wash it in slight warm water.

My hair is really fine, how can I make it thicker?

Layers will help give it some fullness. Use a light weight (spray on/leave on) conditioner. There are a lot of good products today. After shampooing %26amp; conditioning, spray on a root lifting product (Paul Mitchell has a good one sorry I can't remember the name at the moment). Also use you vent or round brush to help lift and give volume while your drying your hair %26amp; take your time. Use a curling iron where needed.

Hair growth post-chemo?

I went through 6 months AVBD. Never lost all my hair but shaved it because it was thin, patchy and felt horrible.

Its starting to grow out again but feels and looks very weird. It is MUCH darker than before. Maybe it just hasn't been sunkissed yet? I've heard that many people have a different texture/look to hair post chemo. Just wondering about other's experience with their hair regrowth.

Also, any advice about shampoos/conditioners/products to use or avoid??

Hair growth post-chemo?

My son's hair has changed dramatically from the chemo. It used to be thin and platinum blonde. Now it is thick, more coarse, wavy and dark. I avoid cheap shampoos as it tends to dry him out badly. He uses moisturizing shampoos and conditioners as his scalp tends to get very dry now.

Hair growth post-chemo?

my mom had blonde hair before chemo, and afterwards it came out dark red, so i think that part is probably normal. she seemed to really like infusium 23 products though, so maybe you'd like that too.

Hair growth post-chemo?

very curly at first

Hair growth post-chemo?

Mine is about the same colour, but at first was very curly. It's been about a year and a half now and it is less curly but kind of wiry and wavy. I use a mild shampoo and find that my hair and scalp are drier.

Actually it was kind of fun to have a different type of hair.

Hair growth post-chemo?

the first time I lost my hair, it grew back very thick and started out curly for a couple months.....as it grew, the curls disappeared, but I had the nicest body and wave...plus it grew back in a layer look, which was not my style before it fell out. The second time I lost it, it only got back to the stubble stage before I lost it for a 3rd time!! Now it has grown back thick and the curls have stayed and it's very soft. Everyone thinks I had it permed!

I use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner to keep it soft..

At two months old my baby is starting to lose her hair. Is this normal?

I'm a first time mum and was never told anything about this?

At two months old my baby is starting to lose her hair. Is this normal?

Newborn hair loss is perfectly normal and nothing to worry about. Babies often lose their hair during the first six months. This kind of hair loss is called telogen effluvium.

Here's why it happens: Hair has a growth stage and a resting stage. The growth stage lasts about three years, and the resting stage lasts about three months (although anywhere from one to six months is normal). During the resting stage, the hair remains in the follicle until the new hair starts coming in.

About 5 to 15 percent of hair on the scalp is usually in the resting phase at any one time, but stress, fever, or a hormonal change can cause a large number of hairs to stop growing all at once. The shedding begins when the next growth stage starts up about three months later.

A newborn's hormone levels drop right after birth, which can cause him to lose the hair he was born with. (New moms often lose large amounts of hair for the same reason.)

Parents are sometimes surprised to discover that when a baby grows a new head of hair it's a completely different color and texture than what he was born with. BabyCenter reader Julie's son Will was born with a full head of thick black hair. "He looked just like Elvis 閳?he even had sideburns," she says. "Both my husband and I are blond, and we wondered where the dark hair came from. Almost immediately after birth, though, it started falling out. The hair that replaced it is a beautiful wheat color."

If you notice that your baby has bald patches, observe the way he sits and sleeps. If he always sleeps in the same position or tends to sit with the back of his head against a baby seat, he may lose hair in that area. He may also develop a bald spot if he rubs his head against his mattress.

There are other conditions that cause hair loss, but they're very uncommon in children under 12 months old:

閳?Patchy bald spots with red, flaky scaling (and sometimes black dots where the hair has broken off) may mean that your baby has a contagious fungal infection called tinea capitis, or ringworm.

閳?Physical damage 閳?from tight ponytails, for example 閳?can result in hair loss called traction alopecia.

閳?Irregular patches of hair may fall out if your older baby twirls or pulls his hair compulsively. This is called trichotillomania.

閳?If your baby has smooth, round, totally bald areas, he may have alopecia areata, a condition in which the immune system attacks the hair follicles, drastically slowing hair growth. This type of hair loss usually appears in isolated patches, although it can affect all of the hair on the body.

閳?Some medical conditions 閳?such as hypothyroidism (a thyroid disorder) or hypopituitarism (an underactive pituitary gland) 閳?can cause hair loss all over your child's head.

What can I do about my baby's hair loss?

There's nothing you can do about newborn hair loss related to hormone levels except look forward seeing your baby's new 'do.

If the bald spot is the result of your baby spending too much time in the same position, try alternating the way your baby sleeps during naps and at night. If you usually put him to sleep on his back with his head at one end of the crib, try putting him down with his head at the other end every other night. Your baby will naturally turn his head to the side to look out of the crib, so he'll be resting on a different part of his head.

If you have a sleep wedge to keep your baby from flipping over onto his stomach, you can try putting him to sleep on his left side, the next night on his back, and then the next on his right side.

Also make sure your baby spends some time on his tummy every day. In addition to giving the back of his head a break, tummy time is essential for your baby's overall physical development.

Mention your baby's hair loss to his doctor, especially after your baby's half birthday. Chances are the hair loss is normal, but his doctor can make sure that there isn't an underlying medical condition and help with treatment if there happens to be a problem. If your child has ringworm, for example, she'll prescribe an antifungal medication.

If the doctor suspects alopecia areata, she may refer you to a dermatologist for further evaluation. (Some children simply outgrow alopecia areata without treatment. Others 閳?usually older children 閳?receive medication to stimulate hair growth.)

If your baby's hair loss is due to breakage, you'll just have to treat his hair and scalp tenderly for a while until it grows back. (Keep in mind that a baby's hair is finer and more delicate than an adult's. Opt for natural styles and brush gently.)

There are no guarantees, but in most cases a baby's hair loss is temporary. There's a good chance your child will sport a full head of hair within a year.

What if my baby's completely bald?

Many new babies are bald, although upon close examination of your baby's scalp, you will probably see pale, downy, extra-fine hair. This type of baldness can sometimes last until a baby's first birthday. Until then, enjoy the maintenance-free style!

At two months old my baby is starting to lose her hair. Is this normal?

yes its normal they're hair starts falling off but its growing new hair it goes thru the same transformation as teeth...baby hair grows falls out and grows New beautiful hair...it'll all grow back dont worry...they also peel as well thats also normal...just in case thats happening as well

At two months old my baby is starting to lose her hair. Is this normal?

yes! Some babies lose all their hair and it can take months for it to come back. My son was born with a headful of long black hair- we're talking 2 inches long onthe sides nad back and have an inch on top. The top fell out around a month and half but came back in thicker and a little lighter, then the sides, and he rubbed a baldspot about the size of a half dollar on the back of his head, because he turns his head in his carseat and in his sleep! But, it's all coming back in.

At two months old my baby is starting to lose her hair. Is this normal?

Yes! This is perfectly normal. My daughter was born with a head full of black hair, by three months it had really thinned out and starting growing in a dark brown color. I was told babies lose their "baby" hair in the first couple months of life.

At two months old my baby is starting to lose her hair. Is this normal?

haha, yes, my daughter lost her hair, she had tons of hair when she was born, so when she starting losing her hair at 2 months, and had a complete bald spot by 6 months, but had all this long dark hair around it, man did she look goofy!!

At two months old my baby is starting to lose her hair. Is this normal?

its normal I freaked out and called my mom when my twins started loosing there hair she told me I did when I was little and it grows back. My twins are now 3 months 3 weeks and its still getting lost and growing back in thicker. Best of luck

At two months old my baby is starting to lose her hair. Is this normal?

perfectly normal, its all the baby hair from in the uterus, it does come back

At two months old my baby is starting to lose her hair. Is this normal?

Yes, it's normal. My daughter was born with beautiful blond hair. It fell out after a couple of days. Then she was bald as a cue-ball until she turned two. Some babies are even born with teeth that fall out after a few months.

At two months old my baby is starting to lose her hair. Is this normal?

Completely normal. My son lost the hair on the top of his head, but not on the sides, so for a few months he looked like an old man! But now it's grown back in so thick on the top he always looks like he has a mohawk! Nothing to worry about.

At two months old my baby is starting to lose her hair. Is this normal?

Most babies shed the hair they are born with in the first six months of life. This type of near-total hair loss, called telogen effluvium, is triggered by the drop in maternal hormones in baby's body in the weeks and months following birth. (Hormonal shifts may similarly cause moms to shed excess hair postpartum -- a temporary loss that's usually restored within a year.) The hair that grows back on baby's head may differ in color and texture from the crop she arrived with (so don't get attached to those golden ringlets or jet-black spikes just yet!). Babies may lose hair in patches as well, if, for example, their head repeatedly rubs in the same spot against the crib mattress.

At two months old my baby is starting to lose her hair. Is this normal?

sure both my sons wereborn with alot of thick hair but at 2 months started losing it. dont worry it grows back :)

Hair Loss Help!?

There are severeal forms of baldenss. If it is male pattern baldness (Androgenetic alopecia) then the hairloss cannot be fully cured in mostcases, but just frozen for some time with the treatments availiable on market today.

1) Hair transplant (FUE technology) creates really natural hairline, no scars, the best way to go if you have enough donor hair and money of course.

2. Propecia (Finasteride) and Minoxidil are the only ones approved by FDA and proven to work in most men so far.

http://www.rogaine.com

But before you consider to start propecia you must really study about the side effects. It can mess your hormones real bad if you are not

lucky, so you must choose, hair or these side effects. Quite a big perecent have these side effects, more than Merck - the company that holds

Propecia trademark is saying. see www.propeciahelp.com

Generic Propecia (finasteride) is also ok. I use it with same results, and unfortunately same sides(a bit dry feeling in the scalp) as brand propecia. Have tried lots of herbal c..p before it and laser combs, so far the only thing that prevents my hairloss, not much regrowth, but has stopped my hairloss completely.

I buy from this pharmacy for the last 2 years - http://www.1rx.biz/generic_propecia.html . It is under $1 per pill as I buy the 90 pills. (89$ for 90)

This is unusual at your age. Check with your doc and see why you are losing your hair. Was you father thinning at your age too? Or his father or father's father. there are some treatments for it.

One time there wasn't anything you could do for it except buy a rug.

If you have no other symptoms like rashes

fevers and stuff like that, it may be just hereditary. But see the doc and see what can be done.
